Microsoft has previously banned this approach.
Microsoft has given up. Baldur’s Gate III, already the highest rated game on all platforms of all time, is coming to Xbox Series S in a different form than it is available on other platforms.
The head of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, said that the game will appear on the younger Xbox console before the end of the year, but without a split-screen mode.
Baldur’s Gate III will be released on this console with one feature cut
We’re very happy to confirm that after yesterday’s XboxP3 meeting, we’ve found a solution that will allow us to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox players this year, something we’ve been working on for quite some time now. All upgrades will be saved along with split-screen co-op in Series X. Series S will not include split-screen co-op, but will include cross-save between Steam and Xbox Series.
That is, the Series S will not have the split-screen co-op feature that is on the PC and will be on the PlayStation 5 and Series X. Recall that it is precisely because of this feature that the game has not yet been released on the Xbox. The limited capabilities of the Series S prevented developers from implementing this feature, and Microsoft’s rules forbade releasing a game on the Series S and Series X with differences in any gameplay features. Microsoft even provided Larian with its own specialists, but, as we see, they did not cope with the task. But Xbox owners should be glad that Microsoft still decided to give up the rules so that gamers get a sensational game.
