Better Than Expected: Blogger Tests First Half Of New Resident Evil Village Demo On PlayStation
Spanish blogger ElAnalistaDeBits posted a video demonstrating the technical component of the “village” half of the second demo version of Resident Evil Village on his YouTube channel.
Recall that the multi-platform “sample” Resident Evil Village will be released on May 2, but PS4 and PS5 owners have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with its content in advance within two half-hour segments, the first of which has already expired.
According to measurements by ElAnalistaDeBits, the second demo runs on PlayStation consoles with the following performance metrics ( Capcom’s stated values in parentheses ):
- PlayStation 5 with ray tracing – Dynamic 4K @ 54-60 fps (45 fps);
- PlayStation 5 without ray tracing – Dynamic 4K @ 60fps (60fps);
- PlayStation 4 Pro in quality mode – dynamic 4K with checkerboard rendering at 34-49 fps (30 fps);
- PlayStation 4 Pro in performance mode – 1080p @ 60fps (60fps);
- PlayStation 4 – 900p @ 48-60fps (45fps).The blogger also noted the high-speed downloads on the PS5: on the new Sony console, the demo takes less than two seconds to launch, while the owners of PS4 and PS4 Pro have to wait more than half a minute.
As for the image quality, ElAnalistaDeBits noticed a slight advantage of the PS5 in the level of anisotropic filtering and texture processing, as well as full parity in the definition of shadows.
The second half of the new Resident Evil Village demo will be released on April 25th on PS4 and PS5 (and will be available for 8 hours). The release of the game itself is expected on May 7 of this year on PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Google Stadia.
