President Joe Biden announced on Tuesday that he will establish his 2024 campaign headquarters in his longtime residence of Wilmington, Delaware. He emphasized the deep connection he feels with the state, stating that his family’s values, eternal optimism, and unwavering belief in the American middle class stem from his home in Delaware, making it the ideal location for his reelection campaign headquarters.

This decision represents a departure from Biden’s 2020 campaign, which had its headquarters in Philadelphia. However, due to the pandemic, Biden already conducted a significant portion of his previous campaign from Wilmington.

Throughout his political career as vice president and senator, Biden was known for regularly taking the train from Washington to Wilmington to spend time at home.

As of now, Biden’s campaign remains relatively small, with a recent addition of three new hires, bringing the total number of staffers to seven.

During the second quarter of the year, the Biden-Harris campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and their joint fundraising committees managed to raise an impressive $72 million. In comparison, former President Donald Trump, the leading candidate in the GOP race, raised just over $35 million during the same period.
