Bitcoin hits new high above $ 35,000

On Wednesday, January 6, the bitcoin rate continued to grow and broke the $ 35,000 mark, setting a new record. According to Coin Metrics, the price of bitcoin surged over $ 35,000 at around 1:24 EST (9:24 GMT).

The rise in the bitcoin rate occurred just a few days after it fell in price by more than 10% to $ 29 316. This followed the rapid growth of the world’s most popular cryptocurrency in 2020 by more than 300%.

On Monday, the financial holding JPMorgan Chase published an analytical note with a forecast for bitcoin, according to which it could rise to $ 146,000, as it will compete with gold as an “alternative” currency. It should be noted that the precious metal also increased significantly in price in 2020: the spot price for gold increased by about 25% over the year.

Anthony Scaramucci, founder and co-managing partner of SkyBridge Capital, told CNBC Capital Connection on Wednesday that his company is “highly optimistic” about bitcoin as a store of capital and believes it is “replacing” gold.

We add that in their note, JPMorgan analysts stated that Bitcoin will need to become significantly less volatile before it can match the gold in market value.
