Bloomberg confirms that Apple is testing iPhone with foldable screen

In November 2020, sources from China reported that Apple had sent Foxconn the first flexible iPhone samples to test. Today Bloomberg, citing its sources, confirmed these rumours. The only thing that is still unknown is the characteristics of the screen of such a device and the timing of its release.

Rumours about this were confirmed by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who is known for his accurate insider information about Apple products. The device will compete with the likes of the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. His material mentions that the engineers of the Cupertino company have been testing samples with different types of screens for several months. According to previously rumoured to be variants with OLED and MicroLED matrices. Based on which option is chosen, the further production process of the devices depends. At the same time, according to a source who is familiar with the topic “from the inside”, Apple does not yet have a fully functional device, which means that the prototype is at a very early stage of development, and may not even be released for production. Among the options being considered internally by Apple itself, there was even a foldable analogue of the iPhone 12 Pro Max with a 6.7-inch screen.

If the company does release such an iPhone, it will be the most radical change in the company’s smartphone family since the iPhone X dropped the Home button. At the same time, the devices with foldable screens, which Samsung, Motorola and Huawei have been selling for several months, as noted by 9to5Mac are not capable of providing a quality user experience to their users.

Earlier, there were also rumours that Apple is preparing an iPhone with an in-screen fingerprint scanner.
