They have proven themselves to be excellent
The American company Boeing is exploring the possibility of receiving an order from India for six P-8I maritime surveillance aircraft, as reported by company representatives.
“We are continuing discussions with the Indian Navy regarding their desire to add additional P-8I aircraft. They want to add additional aircraft because the 12 aircraft they have are performing well and have logged more than 40,000 flight hours over the last 10 years,” said Dan Gillian, vice president of Boeing Defense, Space & Security.
Boeing may supply India with several more P-8I aircraft
The Indian Navy operates a fleet of 12 Boeing P-8I aircraft, divided into two squadrons operating from Arakkonam in Tamil Nadu and Goa. India bought the planes from the US for more than $3 billion.
The P-8I is a military modification of the Boeing 737-800 commercial aircraft. Aircraft perform critical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance functions at sea.
Early in the summer, the United States agreed to produce jet engines in India for the local Air Force.
