To be in time before the entry into force of US sanctions
Chinese company ByteDance, known for its Tik Tok social network, has ordered about $1 billion worth of AI accelerators from Nvidia.
This is approximately 100,000 Nvidia A100 and H800 accelerators. Impressively, this roughly corresponds to the number of cards that the entire Chinese market ordered from Nvidia in 2022.

This excitement is due not only to the boom in artificial intelligence, but also primarily to sanctions from the United States, due to which the supply of such products to China will soon be blocked.
Considering that only one company ordered such volumes, it is difficult to imagine what kind of demand there is from all the giants from the Middle Kingdom. Interestingly, the H800 accelerator, which was created specifically for Nvidia’s Chinese customers, was only launched in March, so its shipments will stretch for at least a year.
