Canon XF705 Camcorder Firmware Update Expands Recording Capabilities in XF-AVC and MP4

Canon Europe announced the release of updated firmware for the XF705 camcorder. The update expands the recording options in XF-AVC and MP4, and also adds support for HDR when shooting at high frame rates. It is free.

In particular, additional recording formats using the XF-AVC codec ensure compatibility of broadcast and news processes with support for 50i in Full HD. Shooting in 4K resolution (3840 × 2160 pixels) is now possible with a progressive scan at a frame rate of 29.97, 23.98 and 25 fps, and in Full HD resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels) with a progressive scan at a frame rate of 120 and 100 fps and interlaced with a frame rate of 59.94 and 50 fps. The update adds shooting in MP4 format with Full HD resolution with a progressive scan with a frame frequency of 29.97, 23.98 and 25 fps and with a resolution of 720p (1280 x 720 pixels) with a progressive scan with a frame frequency of 59.94 f / s, as well as support for HDR (HGL, PQ) for XF-HEVC when shooting with Full HD resolution and progressive scan with a frame frequency of 120 and 100 fps.

In addition, remote control via Ethernet or Wi-Fi and other improvements have been added.
