CDPR Director: Cyberpunk 2077 sales on Stadia are ‘not comparable’ to Steam results

A few days ago, CD Projekt RED published its financial statements for 2020. The developers talked about the sales of Cyberpunk 2077 and said that the launch of the game was a “huge lesson” for them. At the same time, studio director Adam Kiciński held a teleconference with investors, where he answered various questions. One of them concerned the sales of the CDPR project in Google Stadia. Judging by the reaction and statements of the leader, they turned out to below.

After being asked about the success of Cyberpunk 2077 in Stadia (in the video below at 1:36:00), Adam Kiciński couldn’t help laughing. He then said that copies sold on Google’s cloud service count as part of the game’s overall PC sales. However, according to the head, they are “not comparable” to the figures on Steam. Based on the reactions and comments from the CEO, Cyberpunk 2077’s results on Stadia are not impressive. It is a pity that Adam Kaczynski refused to give specific numbers.

As a reminder, Bloomberg’s February investigation revealed that Google was spending fabulous amounts of money on porting famous games to Stadia. The sums reached tens of millions of dollars for the project. The corporation may have entered into a similar contract with CD Projekt RED, but no official information has been received.
