On May 30, Chery officially unveiled its new flagship crossover Tiggo 9, which is now officially on sale in China. A total of five models were produced, priced between $21,500 and $28,800.
Buyers can choose a 5-seat or 7-seat layout. Chery Tiggo 9 will directly compete with models such as Geely Xingyue L, Hongqi HS5 and GAC Trumpchi GS8.
The Tiggo 9 is based on the new Chery T2X Mars architecture and is positioned higher than the Tiggo 8. There is a glowing Chery brand logo in the front, the car is equipped with narrow and sharp headlights on both sides.
Dimensions Chery Tiggo 9 are 4820 x 1930 x 1699 mm, and the wheelbase is 2820 mm. On the side, black pillars create the effect of a floating roof. Other notable design elements include the popular retractable door handles and the two-tone body. The car is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels.
Inside are a 12.3-inch instrument panel screen and a 12.3-inch center screen. The car is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 single-chip system and 256-color backlight.
The center console has a wireless charging pad, a drive selector and buttons for various functions. In addition, top-end versions offer a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, a 12-speaker Sony audio system and driver fatigue monitoring. The car comes standard with an L2 level driving assistance system supporting automatic cruise control and automatic parking.
Chery Tiggo 9 goes on sale in China
The seats are upholstered in leather. The front seats can be adjusted electronically, there are heating and ventilation functions. The front passenger has a footrest and massage support. The rear row also gets sunblinds.
Chery Tiggo 9 is equipped with a 2.0TGDI turbocharged engine with 261 hp. with 400 Nm of torque. The front-wheel drive model is mated to a 7-speed DCT transmission, while the all-wheel drive model is mated to an Aisin 8AT transmission. Top speed will be 205 km/h and combined fuel consumption will be 7.7 l/100 km. Hybrid versions will be able to accelerate to 100 km / h in 4.26 seconds and travel up to 1400 km on a tank of gasoline.
