It will be presented in November
It looks like Microsoft has big plans for its own chips in different segments. We previously heard that the company wants to create its own platforms for its Surface laptops, but now it is reported that Microsoft will introduce its own chips for working with artificial intelligence in November.
Competitor for the most powerful Nvidia accelerators, but not from AMD or Intel.
Presumably, the announcement will take place at the Microsoft Ignite event, which will be held from November 14 to 17. Mirosoft’s own solution will allow the company to reduce its dependence on Nvidia. In addition, Nvidia H100 and A100 accelerators are now in huge shortage, and the problem will not be solved in the near future.
It is known about the Microsoft development that it is codenamed Athena. And this solution will supposedly be able to compare or even surpass Nvidia accelerators.
