Concrete jungle and attention to detail: enthusiasts create a mod that brings downtown Chicago to GTA V
The PCGamesN edition drew attention to the work of designer Filip Vogleš and his several friends-modders. Together they are working on an ambitious project for the Chicago Grand Theft the Auto the V. As you might guess from the name, it will transfer part of the Windy City to the famous Rockstar Games game.
In their work, enthusiasts have focused on recreating the center of the metropolis. They decided to pay due attention to detail, especially when modeling landmarks. This makes Chicago easily recognizable for famous sites such as the Magnificent Mile Hotel and the historic downtown Chicago Loop with its wide concrete streets.
You can see the creativity of enthusiasts in the latest dev diary, which is published above. It shows in detail how meticulously Chicago has recreated the architecture of a metropolis. Modders specifically drove along many streets to show the work done.
At the moment, the modification is available only to subscribers of the team of authors on Patreon. When the creators complete the project, they will post it for free.
Grand Theft Auto V was released in the fall of 2013 on PS3 and Xbox 360. A year later, it made it to PS4 and Xbox One, and in the spring of 2015, it dropped into PC.
