Specialists of the analytical company IDC have prepared a report related to the market of converged systems. It includes data for the third quarter of 2020. According to analysts, the specified market in monetary terms amounted to $ 3.9 billion, having increased in annual terms by only 0.3%.

Converged systems sales for the year grew by only 0.3%

At IDC, converged systems are pre-integrated and vendor-certified systems that include server hardware, storage subsystem, networking hardware, and underlying system software. As a ready-made, tested solution that supports virtualization and is optimized for various tasks, such a system can be easily integrated into the existing infrastructure through a software-defined approach to defining functionality.

Distinguishing three market segments, analysts note that the segment of certified reference systems and integrated infrastructure grew by 2.5%. This segment is valued at $ 1.4 billion. At the same time, sales of integrated platforms decreased by 7.7% to $ 438 million. Finally, in the segment of hyper-converged systems, growth was 0.6%. In monetary terms, this segment is $ 2.0 billion. The dynamics of market distribution between segments over the last five quarters is shown in the graph:

Dell is the leading supplier. However, over the year its share decreased from 35.0% to 33.2% of the market. Second place is taken by HPE, which increased its share from 11.1% to 12.9%. This is followed by Nutanix, whose share fell from 12.9% to 11.5%. The total share of all other suppliers for the year increased from 40.9% to 42.5%.
