Cyberpunk 2077 Tops UK Charts And Becomes Second In First Sales In 2020

In the UK, Cyberpunk 2077 burst to the top of the retail charts last week and became the second-largest boxed game launch in 2020, according to analyst firm GfK.

A long-awaited sci-fi action RPG studio CD Projekt RED bypassed the previous second-largest launch – The Last of Us Part II. But it couldn’t match the launch sales of FIFA 21, which debuted its biggest in 2020. It should be borne in mind that a large number of sales of Cyberpunk 2077 were on PC in the form of a digital version, and therefore are not tracked by an analytical firm. The ratio of retail copies sold: 60% for PlayStation 4, 35% for Xbox One, and the remainder for PC.

The most successful boxed releases in the UK in 2020 are FIFA 21, Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

All top 10 games, with the exception of Cyberpunk 2077 and Animal Crossing: New Horizons, dropped in sales from the previous week.

Immortals Fenyx Rising dropped from 11th to 17th in the previous week with a 45% drop in sales (which is a relatively small drop for the game in its second week of sales). The Nintendo Switch version has performed best this week, and overall it is the most popular platform for Ubisoft’s action-adventure. Perhaps it’s because the game is similar to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
