Deja vu: all GeForce RTX 3090s sold out in seconds. Speculators resell them at a huge mark-up

As expected, yesterday’s start of sales of the flagship model GeForce RTX 3090 repeated the history of the launch of the GeForce RTX 3080. The novelty, both in the reference version of the Founders Edition and inversions from NVIDIA partners, was sold out all over the world in a matter of seconds from the moment of its launch. …

Recall that NVIDIA apologized even before the actual start of sales for the fact that this video card is expected to have a serious shortage. The flagship model of the Ampere series was produced in even more limited quantities than the GeForce RTX 3080. The company has promised to resolve this issue with its partners.

As the resource PCGamer points out, video cards are not available in the American stores BestBuy and NewEgg. According to the popular American tech blogger Bitwit, video cards are also sold out in Microcenter stores. The blogger visited one of the points of this retail network before the launch of sales and found out that some potential buyers were waiting for the start of sales of the GeForce RTX 3090, spending the night at the store since Monday. At the same time, as explained in the store itself, he had only 29 copies of the GeForce RTX 3090 in stock. The cards were literally sold by coupons.

A similar picture is observed in the European market. The site of the popular European retailer Ebuyer could not stand the influx of visitors and at the time of this writing was not working. The entire stock of GeForce RTX 3090 was also sold out in the UK NVIDIA store. In the German store Computeuniverse, popular among the CIS countries, video cards can still be ordered. The price range for options from various manufacturers ranges from € 1,649 (for example, for Inno3D GeForce RTX 3090 iChill X4, Palit GeForce RTX 3090 GamingPro, and MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ventus 3X OC) and up to € 1999. The most expensive is the EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra Gaming version. However, the seller, without any explanation, hints that the delivery of the cards may take a very long time.

As for Russian retail, no major Russian retailer has GeForce RTX 3090 video cards at the time of writing. A search on the websites of Regard, NICS, Citylink stores did not give positive results. The latter has new items in the database, but the store has not yet put prices on them. In Online trade at the moment, you can find the model Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090. Its store estimated at 199,990 rubles. The card is out of stock, but the store is ready to deliver it to order. The prices for some models were reported by the federal retail chain of CSN stores.

At the moment, the price of the most expensive version, MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Gaming X Trio, is 150 thousand rubles. The most “affordable” is Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3090 EAGLE OC and MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ventus 3X OC. The cost of each is 143 thousand rubles.

At the same time, various variants of the GeForce RTX 3090 began to appear on the secondary market. As is the case with the GeForce RTX 3080, speculators are selling them at a large mark-up. For example, on Western Ebay, cards in various designs are offered from $ 2000. On the Russian Avito site, offers start at 150 thousand rubles. For this price, the seller is ready to give Palit GeForce RTX 3090 GamingPro. At the same time, the most expensive option at the moment is the Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090 model. The seller asks for 205 thousand rubles for it.
