Noise level unknown
It seems that active cooling systems for SSDs with PCIe 5.0 support are really not superfluous. Galax showed its HOF Extreme 50 drive in operation, which is equipped with just such a cooler, and even with it the temperatures cannot be called low.
Do the latest SSDs really need active coolers?
Under load, the temperature of the SSD rose to almost 50 degrees. This is a low value, but it is with an active cooler. Of course, it is unlikely that such an SSD simply with a massive heatsink will overheat, but, apparently, fans on at least top-end SSDs will soon become the norm.
Unfortunately, Galax did not say anything about the noise level. Recall, HOF Extreme 50, according to the specifications, provides data transfer rates up to 10 GB / s on read operations with a performance of 1.5 million IOPS. Such characteristics are in the 2 TB version.
