DOOM 3 will receive a VR version, but so far only on PS4
Bethesda Softworks and id Software have announced on the official PlayStation blog a version of their DOOM 3 shooter for virtual reality headsets.
DOOM 3: VR Edition (that’s the name of the edition) will go on sale on March 29 this year for PS4 but will work on PS5. Compatible PlayStation VR.
Despite the closeness of the premiere, DOOM 3: VR Edition cannot be pre-ordered yet. The price of the project is also not disclosed. For comparison: DOOM VFR (VR-adaptation of DOOM sample of 2016) in the PS Store costs $11.62.
Especially for DOOM 3: VR Edition, the developers, have adapted both the main DOOM 3 and two-story additions for the VR environment – Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Mission.
DOOM 3: VR Edition promises the ability to peek around the corner, hold a weapon with a flashlight when firing, quickly turn 180 degrees and monitor health, armor, and ammunition thanks to the screen on the wrist.
In addition to supporting the aim controller, DOOM 3: VR Edition will offer improved textures, shaders, and visuals, as well as reworked weapon sounds.
DOOM 3 debuted on the PC in August 2004 and later made its way to the Xbox. The games remaster (DOOM 3: BFG Edition) was released in October 2012 on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and in July 2019 – on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
