Elon Musk explained the Starship SN10 crash. The rocket has engine problems

SpaceX founder Elon Musk explained the reason for the crash of the latest Starship prototype, the SN10. According to him, the cause was a leak of helium into the engine, due to which there was not enough power for braking. He tweeted about it.

Elon reacted to the publication of photographer Austin Barnard, who noticed that SpaceX employees were checking the rocket’s landing pads. He suggested that they did not turn around properly, which attracted Musk’s attention.

“The SN10 engine had too little power. Probably, the cause was the ingress of helium from the fuel tank. Thus, the landing was carried out at a speed of 10 km / h, which led to the breakage of the supports. There will be a lot of fixes in SN11, ” Musk said in response.

Running a prototype Starship, SN10 held March 4th. The developers successfully launched the rocket and landed it, but after a few minutes, the ship exploded. Despite this, SpaceX called the tests successful because the goal was to collect data on the vehicle’s control after the rocket re-entered the atmosphere. This task has been completed.

The Starship rocket is designed for human flights and the delivery of various cargoes to Mars and the Moon. SpaceX engineers are developing it, intending to further return to Earth and reuse it.
