It’s not full end-to-end encryption

Elon Musk announced that the social network Twitter has received support for encrypting private messages. 

So far, the technology is not fully functional. Musk talks about launching an early version, noting that it’s possible to try out the feature, but it’s not worth trusting yet. A very interesting statement from the head of Twitter. 

However, Twitter even published an article that explains all the disadvantages of the function available at the stage of its implementation. In general, according to the description, it is clear that the developers still have a lot of work to do, but there is no talk of full end-to-end encryption yet.

Twitter aims to be the most trusted platform on the web, and encrypted private messages are an important part of that. As Elon Musk said, when it comes to private messages, the standard should be that if someone puts a gun to our head, we still can’t access your messages. We’re not quite at that stage yet, but we’re working on it. In the meantime, we’re releasing Encrypted Private Messages, a new way to communicate on Twitter that will appear as separate conversations alongside your existing private messages in your inbox.
