Elon Musk promised to send people to Mars by 2030

SpaceX founder Elon Musk has reacted to Europe’s plans to build competitive space rockets. He said that European states should set themselves more serious tasks to keep up with SpaceX. The businessman tweeted about it.

The discussion was an article from Ars Technica, which talked about the development of space technology in Europe. The material reported that the European Space Agency (ESA) allocated $ 600 thousand to three companies to study launch systems relevant after 2030. The article also mentioned SpaceX’s dominance in the commercial flight market.

Musk responded that the European agency should set more ambitious goals. He believes that in the future, only reusable rockets will be relevant. The rest of the options, he said, will be similar to ” fabric biplanes in the era of jet aircraft .” He also promised to send astronauts to Mars much earlier than 2030.

“SpaceX will send spacecraft to Mars well before 2030. This challenge – to do this Mars Base Alpha [first base on Mars] autonomous “ – wrote Musk tweeted.

The company is currently testing a Starship rocket for interplanetary travel. The company intends to launch another SN11 prototype this week. The three previous samples exploded during testing.

At the end of 2020, Musk announced that the company has a chance to make an uncrewed flight to Mars in 2024 and in 2026 to launch a  rocket with a crew. By 2050, he plans to build 1,000 rockets and send a million people to the neighboring planet.
