To get closer to Gagafactory Austin and SpaceX’s South Texas launch site

The rumor that Elon Musk is going to trade the sunny Californian coast for an equally sunny Texas has been fully confirmed. Musk himself announced this in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. However, the reason for the move is not taxes.

Elon Musk really moved to Texas, but not because of taxes, but for work

Recall that various publications reported that the reason for Musk’s move was not to pay income tax on profits – in California, it is 13.3% (one of the largest in the US), and in Texas, it simply does not exist. But Musk himself denied these rumors. He said his two biggest projects right now are the Tesla Gigafactory Austin and SpaceX’s development of the Starship interplanetary spacecraft. Work on both is underway in Texas.

There is no need to talk about the importance of Starship – and it is clear that this is a very ambitious and important project. Recall that SpaceX is going to send people to Mars as early as 2026. And if the tests go faster, then even earlier. As for Giga Austin, this plant will assemble electric Semi-trucks and Cybertruck pickups. Both are completely new products, and Musk will clearly control them so that they do not turn out to be raw products already at the stage of mass production.

As for the headquarters of Tesla, it will remain in Palo Alto (California) for the time being. But in the long term, Tesla’s headquarters may also move to Texas.
