Tesla automaker head Elon Musk has finally revealed the answer to one of the brand’s biggest mysteries.
Elon Musk unveiled the long-standing secret of Tesla electric vehicles
From the very beginning, Tesla Model 3 electric cars were delivered with a camera installed in the rear-view mirror, aimed at the passenger compartment with the driver and passengers. However, until now, users could only guess why it is needed. Now, Elon Musk on Twitter confirmed one of the theories put forward.
The head of Tesla replied: “That’s right,” to a user who suggested that the camera was designed for robotics service in case of vandalism in the cabin. If a Tesla Robotaxi user decides to ruin your car, then everything will be recorded on video, and the unlucky vandal will have to pay and, possibly, be responsible for his actions before the law.
The company last year announced plans to launch a robotics service when owners can rent their cars to other users.
robotaxi is an unmanned vehicle service. In terms of meaning, it is similar to Uber and Yandex. Taxi, but in this case, it will be possible to send the car for “independent earnings”. During the announcement, it was said that the service would be launched in 2020.
