Previously, it was expected that SpaceX would launch Starship to Mars in an unmanned mode in 2022. The first manned flight was planned to be completed two years later – in 2024.

However, it is now reported that the dates are likely to be slightly shifted. According to Musk, SpaceX will prepare Starship for launch on the Red Planet program in 2023. This means that the actual start can be carried out within the launch window of 2024.

“ I think we will have a chance to fly, ” Musk commented on the possibility of sending the Starship in 2024. At the same time, the head of SpaceX admitted that in the process of developing a new spacecraft, several of its copies will be lost – during tests and test launches.

We add that theoretically the promising Russian spacecraft “Eagle”, which is currently under development, can also perform flights to the Red Planet.
