Elon Musk threatens to take away the Fremont factory if he cannot reopen

The hard struggle between Elon Musk and the local authorities for the reopening of the Fremont factory continues. Tesla’s CEO had been trying for days to restart operations, on the strength of the fact that the Governor of California had begun to ease the restrictions of the lockdown by giving the green light for the reopening of some companies. Apparently it was good news for the American manufacturer who is in a hurry to restart the production lines of his electric cars.

The cold shower for Musk came from the Alameda county authority, where the plant is located, who instead decided to extend the stop to further reduce the risk of contagion of the virus. In fact, although California now allows easing the restrictions, the last word is up to the counties. The decision certainly did not please the Tesla CEO who reacted very harshly. Without too many words, Musk “threatened” to take his factory away from Fremont and then move it to Texas or Nevada.

But this was only the beginning. After the threat, a real legal complaint arrives for the local authorities. The accusation would be that of “violating constitutional and federal principles”. For Musk, in fact, the county authorities would be “acting in contrast to the governor, the president, our constitutional freedoms and simply common sense!”. Actions that are to be viewed, however, only as a way to put heavy pressure on the county organs.

It is difficult to think that Tesla can really move an entire factory. In fact, a local government spokesman has already said that they are working with Tesla to find an agreement on a plan that allows employees to be able to work safely. The deal, it seems, would not be far off.
