Elon Musk said that the number of monthly users of the social network X, formerly known as Twitter, has reached a “new high” of more than 540 million people.

It’s worth adding that Twitter had 229 million active users in May 2022. In November 2022, Musk announced that Twitter had 259.4 million active users.

In May, Musk named former NBCUniversal advertising director Linda Iaccarino as the company’s CEO, saying advertising sales were becoming a priority even as the platform worked to increase subscription revenue.

Musk said earlier this month that X’s cash flow was negative due to a nearly 50 percent drop in ad revenue and heavy debt.
