Even more scandalous – in the Japanese version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 the phrase “Not a word in Russian” was distorted

When the characters leave the elevator, one of them says the famous phrase: “Not a word in Russian.” In the Japanese version of the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, released in 2009, this phrase was not translated as a call not to speak Russian. Instead, a character in the Japanese said, “Kill the Russians.”

In the Japanese version of Modern Warfare 2, there was no English voice acting, and this moment of localization was criticized in due time.

However, according to Game Spark and Hachima, the Japanese edition of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, which was released on March 31 on the PS4, corrected this oversight. In the remaster, in a famous moment, there is a call not to speak Russian. There is no English voice acting in the Japanese version of the remaster.
