EVGA Launches GeForce RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 Hydro Copper and Hybrid Series for Liquid Cooling Lovers

EVGA Launches GeForce RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 Hydro Copper and Hybrid Series for Liquid Cooling Lovers

EVGA has officially unveiled the GeForce RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 Hydro Copper and Hybrid series graphics cards. In general, the manufacturer announced 8 video cards – four for each series. Such an extensive set of modifications is also explained by the fact that each version of the video card also has two versions – FTW3 and XC3.

The EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 Hydro Copper graphics cards are designed for the liquid cooling enthusiast. All new products in this series are equipped with full coverage water blocks, which are responsible for cooling the graphics chip, memory, and power subsystems of graphics accelerators. These models are designed for those who are used to organizing custom computer liquid cooling systems.

In the case, each of the new products will occupy 1.2 expansion slots, leaving free space inside the PC. The set of video data outputs for video cards includes three DisplayPort and one HDMI 2.1.

The manufacturer claims that when using an LSS radiator with a standard size of 360 mm, the water blocks of video cards will be able to provide 27 and 33% more efficient cooling of the GPU and video memory chips, respectively.

The water blocks of all four models of the Hydro Copper series are ARGB-backlit and equipped with a backplate. The difference between the FTW3 and XC3 versions is the first use of wider PCBs and the presence of three 8-pin auxiliary power connectors, which indicates a higher overclocking potential. XC3 models are equipped with only two 8-pin auxiliary power connectors.

The declared GPU frequencies and the cost of new products are given below:

  • EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 Hydro Copper FTW3 (1800 MHz) – $ 1850;
  • EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Hydro Copper FTW3 (1800 MHz) – $ 850;
  • EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 Hydro Copper XC3 (1725 MHz) – $ 1650;
  • EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Hydro Copper XC3 (1755 MHz) – $ 810EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 & RTX 3080 Hybrid series graphics cards are also available in FTW3 and XC3 versions. The peculiarity of this series of graphics accelerators is the use of a closed-loop liquid cooling system, which includes a 240 mm radiator from Asetek.

    Additional cooling for video cards is provided by a 9-blade fan, which sucks air under the casing installed on the board. In these new products, EVGA used a massive copper plate that cools not only the GPU but also the memory.

    Radiators are built into the casing of the video card, providing additional cooling of the power subsystem circuits. The manufacturer claims that such a solution allows 21.6% more efficient cooling of the GPU and 11% more efficient cooling of the video memory chips.

    All four Hybrid series graphics cards are also equipped with rear reinforcement plates. The difference between the FTW3 and XC3 versions is again that the first uses a wider PCB and three 8-pin power connectors instead of two.

    The GPU frequencies and prices for the EVGA Hybrid series models are listed below:

    • EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 Hybrid FTW3 (1800 MHz) – $ 1800;
    • EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Hybrid FTW3 (1800 MHz) – $ 820;
    • EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 Hybrid r XC3 (1725 MHz) – $ 1620;
    • EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Hybrid XC3 (1755 MHz) – $ 780

    All the novelties presented today have already appeared in the official online store of the manufacturer but appear in the “not available” status. You can find out about the availability of graphics accelerators for these series only through the feedback form. According to the manufacturer, the first batches of all the presented video cards will start shipping in early December and in very limited quantities. EVGA hopes to increase inventory in early 2021.
