Facebook could add a new type of live streaming event where you have to pay a ticket to participate
In this lockdown period, streaming broadcasts on Facebook have experienced a real surge. Famous people, normal people, everyone is willing to express their ideas in streaming and to stay close, even if distant, with their community.
But alongside those who post a streaming video to show their daily lives, there are many people who can use this technology to continue working, thus resuming their activity blocked by the measures taken to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus epidemic. Most live-streaming platforms are usually free. Users may be asked to make a donation to support the streamer, but nothing more. Now things, however, could change.
Facebook: directly paid streaming
Apparently Facebook would be willing to introduce a form of payment to access streaming making it actually become a paid service. The Menlo Park company announced that soon all streaming channels on the social network will be able to create events dedicated to their online broadcasts and will be able to charge users for a registration fee. In a nutshell, to attend a show, a concert or any direct live streaming, you will need to purchase a “digital” ticket.
In this way, broadcasters and Facebook channels will be able to create an event and charge a participation fee. This idea was born to favour above all artists who are currently unable to carry out their business due to the lockdown. Comedians, for example, will be able to use this tool to organize an online show, musicians will be able to perform live, but in general, anyone thinking of sharing interesting live and paid content will soon be able to do so.
The future of Facebook Videos and Live Streaming
Will this be the future of social media? Become a paid video channel? Of course, compared to any streaming platform, Facebook allows great independence. An artist can organize his show online and collect the amount due, without having to sign contracts, to submit to agreements as happens with the mainstreaming channels such as Netflix, Prime Video and others. Will Facebook and the other social networks become the same as the very popular streaming services in this historic moment? For now, it is not known, but great changes are beginning to be seen on the horizon.
