Both versions are built on the Snapdragon 632 processor, which contains eight Kryo 250 cores with a clock speed of up to 1.8 GHz and an Adreno 506 graphics accelerator. The smartphones have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of the flash drive (plus a microSD card).

The display characteristics have not changed either. A 5.65-inch Full HD + panel with a resolution of 2160 × 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18: 9 is used.

Key changes affect the camera system. If the Fairphone 3 model is equipped with 8-megapixel front and 12-megapixel rear units, then the Fairphone 3+ version has 16-megapixel and 48-megapixel respectively.

As for the software part, the Android 9 operating system has given way to the more modern Android 10.

Smartphones are equipped with an NFC controller, Wi-Fi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac and Bluetooth 5.0 adapters, a USB Type-C port and a 3000 mAh battery.

The Fairphone 3+ will go on sale on September 14 at a price of € 469. Current Fairphone 3 owners will be able to purchase new camera units for an upgrade for € 70.
