Fatal Frame’s Producer Wishes To Celebrate The Series’ 20th Anniversary In 2021 ‘In One Way Or Another’

Keisuke Kikuchi, producer of Fatal Frame (Project Zero in Europe), in a pre-New Year interview with Famitsu, mentioned the imminent anniversary of the cult horror series.

Fatal Frame

Recall that the original Fatal Frame went on sale on December 13, 2001 (Japanese release) for the PlayStation 2. Thus, in 2021, the franchise will be no less than 20 years old.

Kikuchi did not forget about the memorable date and expressed his desire to celebrate the anniversary if possible “in one way or another”“2021 will also have the 20th anniversary of the Fatal Frame series, which I would like to celebrate in one way or another .

The producer also mentioned that he is working on “a wide range of projects” at various stages of production. At least a few of these games are set to be released before spring arrives.

“The outgoing 2020 was the year when normal things were no longer normal. I would like to once again comprehend the most important and beloved and create a game with a fresh look, “ – said Kikuchi.

In April 2020, Kikuchi admitted that he was interested in creating a new part and remasters of the previous ones, however, the publishing rights for Fatal Frame belong to Nintendo, and without its consent, the developers will not succeed.

The last part of the franchise that has been released so far is Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water (aka Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water) sample 2014 for Nintendo Wii U. On Metacritic, the project has only 67 out of 100%.
