Flexible smartphone Huawei Mate X2 will be delayed until next year due to US sanctions

Yesterday we reported that due to US sanctions, the launch of the flagship Huawei Mate 40 smartphones could be significantly delayed. Now a fresh leak reports that the Huawei Mate X2 foldable smartphone expected by many fans of the brand will be postponed until next year. This was announced by reputable insider Ross Young.

The original Huawei Mate X hit the market on November 15, 2019. An updated Mate Xs came out this year. It was previously assumed that their successor would be released in mid-November this year. Ross Young reported that the smartphone will receive a design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Fold, and it will use a flexible panel from Samsung Display. The device is supposed to hit the market with the flagship Kirin 9000 chipset, which is also credited with the Huawei Mate 40.

Unfortunately, due to tough US sanctions that cut Huawei off from all key suppliers, the smartphone will almost certainly be delayed until next year, if the Chinese tech giant is able to bring it to market at all in the current environment.
