Folding smartphone Huawei Mate X2 appeared on high-quality renders – almost a copy of Galaxy Fold 2

For the previous two years, Huawei has introduced new foldable smartphone models in February. This year will be no exception, although the company is going through hard times. Today it became known that Huawei Mate X2 will be presented on February 22. Now there are high-quality smartphone renders on the web.

An image posted by the reputable Chinese tech blog Digital Chat Station shows the new smartphone folded and unfolded. In the first case, due to the highly elongated external display, the device resembles the Sony Xperia 1 II. In the upper left corner of the screen is an oblong cutout for the dual front camera. It is reported that one of the sensors will receive a resolution of 16 megapixels.

The internal display of the smartphone, judging by the render, does not have any notches and holes. It is noteworthy that, unlike its predecessors, the Mate X2 will fold inward with the screen, and not outward. It is worth noting that this design assumes the presence of a separate main camera unit, while the Mate X and Mate XS used the main sensors for taking selfies.

The official launch of the smartphone in China is scheduled for February 22nd. It is expected that the device will be based on the flagship 5nm HiSilicon Kirin 9000 chipset. There is no information about the release date of the smartphone on the global market, however, if this happens, the number of smartphones may be severely limited due to the inability to produce chipsets caused by the US sanctions.
