FromSoftware’s parent company financials hint Elden Ring won’t be out until April 2022
Recently, the Japanese publishing house Kadokawa Corporation, which owns the studio FromSoftware, published a report for the 2021 fiscal year. The company mentioned the steadily advancing development of several games and named the upcoming Elden Ring as one of the key factors for further growth. The journalists of the TweakTown portal studied the document in detail and found one curious detail – the expected action RPG from FromSoftware will probably be released no earlier than April 2022.
The forecast pushes this conclusion for a decrease in revenue from video games, which will receive the Kadokawa Corporation in the 2022 financial year. The figures should fall by 15% to about $ 10.9 million. In the 2021 fiscal year, the company managed to earn about $ 1.9 million more. The main reason for the deterioration in statistics is the postponement of games due to the coronavirus.
It is worth noting that Kadokawa Corporation did not have major releases last year, and old projects generated all the profits from the gaming direction. And once in the next financial year, the indicators should decrease, the situation will at least repeat itself. Hence the conclusion that Elden Ring will not go on sale until next April.
Recall: earlier, representatives of the Video Games Chronicle website, citing their own sources, called the release of the upcoming FromSoftware game in 2021 unlikely. The internal launch date of the project has already been postponed more than once due to the transition to remote operation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
