Galax releases GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3070 with hardware mining limiter

Galax introduced the GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3070 General FG LHR graphics accelerators. According to the manufacturer, LHR stands for Lite Hash Rate or “reduced hash rate.” The peculiarity of these video cards is that they are equipped with new graphics processors with a built-in hardware limiter for mining Ethereum cryptocurrency.

It should be noted that Galax has previously presented the same models of the FG series video cards but without the mining limiter. Versions with such are supplied in packages that do not distinguish new items from the background of previous options. In other words, the manufacturer does not note that the video cards are equipped with a mining limiter.

Below you can find the technical characteristics of the new products. They are practically the same as in the previously presented Galax FG models without a limiter. Therefore, the performance of new products in ordinary gaming and work tasks should remain the same. But there is a difference in the GPU marking.

The GeForce RTX 3080 General FG LHR model is based on the GA102-202 (LHR), the GeForce RTX 3070 General FG LHR model is based on the GA104-302 (LHR). Recall that the original versions of the GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3070 are based on the GA102-200 and GA104-300 GPUs, respectively.

In the characteristics of the new products, the manufacturer indicates that the efficiency of Ethereum mining for the younger model is reduced to 25 MH / s and for the GeForce RTX 3080 model – up to 43 MH / s.
