Galax unveils four GeForce RTX 3070 variants with massive cooling systems

Official sales of the GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card have already begun, so NVIDIA partners have begun to officially present their options based on it. For example, one of the first was the Galax company, which prepared four versions at once: Boomstar, Metaltop, Gamer, and Black. Earlier in the same performance, the company released the GeForce RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 models.

All new items have one thing in common: their cooling systems are equipped with three fans. All versions of the Galax GeForce RTX 3070 will be available with both factory overclocking and reference GPU frequencies.

For the GPU version of the Galax GeForce RTX 3070 Boomstar OC, the Boost frequency is declared at 1785 MHz, which is 3.5% higher than the reference value. The card is built on a custom board, which is longer than most other GeForce RTX 3070 variants. The new product uses two 8-pin connectors for additional power. The manufacturer claims power consumption for this model at 240 W.

The cooling system of the Galax GeForce RTX 3070 Boomstar OC variant is equipped with three transparent LED fans. The novelty offers a standard set of video connectors from three DisplayPort 1.4 and one HDMI 2.1.

The Galax GeForce RTX 3070 Metaltop OC variant is also built on a custom PCB. For the graphics chip, the Boost frequency is declared at 1755 MHz, which is 1.7% higher than the reference.

As the name of the model suggests, the upper part of the casing of the video card cooling system is made of metal. The backplate of the card is also metal. Galax RTX 3070 Metaltop OC is slightly narrower and shorter than the Boomstar variant.

For the additional power supply, the card is equipped with two 8-pin connectors. The set of video connectors is standard: three DisplayPort 1.4 and one HDMI 2.1.

The manufacturer claims that the Galax GeForce RTX 3070 8GB GAMER OC version is made in the style of the LEGO constructor. However, the red and blue side panels on the cooling shroud also clearly have a reference to the Nintendo Switch JoyCon game controllers.

This version of the GeForce RTX 3070 is the most productive among all the options from Galax. The declared Boost-frequency of the GPU is 1800 MHz, which is 4.3% higher than the reference value declared by NVIDIA.

It is built on the same PCB as the Boomstar variant. For operation, the card requires additional power, which it receives through two 8-pin connectors.

The Galax GeForce RTX 3070 8GB BLACK OC is the only graphics card on this list to feature a full 3-slot cooling design.

The graphics processor of this version runs at 1755 MHz, which is 1.7% higher than the standard frequency stated by NVIDIA.
