Geekbench record: Core i9-11900K outperforms 10900K in single-core test by as much as 35%

The new single-thread benchmark results for the Intel Core i9-11900K Geekbench V5 processor are 35% higher than the i9-10900K. Being an 8-core chip in multi-threaded performance, it nevertheless matches the previous generation 10-core 10900K. It looks like the upcoming Rocket Lake-S processor could be an interesting choice for gaming and single-threaded applications, not inferior to its predecessor in parallel calculations.

According to Geekbench processor ratings, so far, no desktop processor has been able to score 1,900 points in a single-core test. However, recently, Core i9-11900K testing was added to the base on a system with a Gigabyte Z490 Aorus Master motherboard and 32 GB of DDR-3600 memory. On such a platform, the upcoming processor has finally overcome this barrier:

On two occasions where the CPU scored over 1900 points, it ran over 5.2 GHz throughout the test, with sporadic drops to 5.0-5.19 GHz. It is unclear if the test was carried out with any overclocking (for example, with the changed PL1 / PL2 power limits). Nevertheless, it seems that we are talking about the standard configuration:v

The Cypress Cove-based Intel processor is also faster than the 8-core and 16-thread Ryzen 7 5800X. The Core i9-11900K delivers 13-14% faster performance in single-threaded tests and 5-6% faster in multi-threaded tests.

Intel has yet to confirm the exact launch date for the 11th Gen Core processor family. Rumors have it that it will take place in March, but it is not clear if the official launch will mean real availability on store shelves.
