Basically new between RTX 3060 and 3060 Ti
We are already familiar with the GeForce RTX 4060 tests in games. The video card turned out to be not the best compared to competitors, but it is better than the RTX 4060 Ti in terms of price and performance . The Phoronix resource decided to test the novelty in an atypical format: in work applications and under Linux.
For comparison, the authors took at once a lot of cards from the xx60 line, starting with the GTX 1060, to track the performance growth over the past seven years.
GeForce RTX 4060 manages to lose even GTX 1660 Ti.
In most applications, the RTX 4060 looks about the same as in games, or even slightly better. It is faster than the RTX 3060, but inferior to the RTX 3060 Ti. There are tasks where the new product is inferior to its predecessor, and there are those where it even outperforms the RTX 3060 Ti. Moreover, the latter are not so few, which is good for a novelty. Unfortunately, the RTX 3070 did not participate in the tests, so it is not clear if the RTX 4060 can even catch up with it in any task.
But on the other hand, the test shows that those who actively work in FluidX3D should by no means buy an RTX 4060. For some reason, the novelty performs terribly in this problem. Not only is it inferior to the RTX 3060, it manages to outperform even the GTX 1660 Ti! Why the new card performs so poorly in this software is not clear.
