Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer turned out to be one of the basics of game development
Sucker Punch Productions Senior Staff Designer Darren Bridges spoke to IGN about the importance of Legends co-op in the context of Ghost of Tsushima.
According to Bridges, a kind of multiplayer component has always been one of the foundations of Ghost of Tsushima, although the direct concept of “Legends” emerged during development.
“We probably spent six months to a year thinking about different ideas, and in the end, we came to Legends. We have been working on [the model] in parallel – this applies to both the engine and the content – from the very beginning of the project, ”said Bridges.
The plot in Ghost of Tsushima is relatively mundane. “Legends” also offer to fight with mythical and fabulous enemies, which led to the expansion of the range of available skills, techniques, and items of individualization.
“And that allowed us to write [‘Legends’] into Jin’s story because legends are not mundane. They are on their own, told by the Tsushima storyteller, ”Bridges explained.
As a reminder, in addition to Legends, the recent Ghost of Tsushima content update brought with it a New Game + mode, additional amulets, equipment upgrades, a ghost flower buyer, and armor layouts.
Ghost of Tsushima went on sale on July 17 this year for PlayStation 4. Recently, the digital version of the game in the PlayStation Store has risen noticeably – not only in Russia but also in some European countries.
