According to 9to5Google, in 2011, the Chrome logo saw the most dramatic update from a 3D logo to a flat one, and the company changed it a little three years later. Since then, it has remained unchanged.

Google said it has modernized the icon again to better align with the “modern brand expression” by removing shades of red, yellow, and green while “refining the proportions and brightening the colors”. In addition, according to designer Elvin Hu, the team added a “subtle gradient” to reduce the “unpleasant vibration of color” between green and red.

In addition to the update, Google will customize its icon to suit certain operating systems, adapting the browser experience to fit perfectly with Windows, Mac, or Android.

“We adapt the Chrome experience for every operating system, with features like Native Window Occlusion on Windows, M1 support for the first day on macOS, Widgets on iOS / Android, and Material You on Android,” the designer explained.

News18 noted that users of Chrome Canary, the developer version of the browser, will be able to see the new icon immediately, while Google will release it to all users of the regular browser in the coming months.
