Google is officially ending support for its cloud storage for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. This is reported in a Google support document.

The Google Drive desktop app (Google Drive) will no longer be supported on Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or any 32-bit version of Windows from August 2023. Google explains:

Windows users should upgrade to Windows 10 (64-bit) or later before August 2023 to avoid service interruptions. Users on 32-bit versions of Windows will still be able to access Drive through a browser.

The Google Drive app syncs folders on your PC to the cloud, so it’s worth updating if you want to keep syncing.

Google ended support for Google Chrome for Windows 8/8.1 (and Windows 7 too) back in February 2023. 

According to Statcounter statistics for May 2023, the share of Windows 8.1 among all versions of the Microsoft OS in the world is 0.72%, and Windows 8 is 0.37%. In Russia, the share of Windows 8.1 reaches 4.7%, and the share of Windows 8 is 3.46%.
