While Chrome security updates are not uncommon in and of themselves, updates that address a single, actively exploited zero-day vulnerability are indeed uncommon. The latest Chrome update is one of those rare updates. Users have access to versions 114.0.5735.106 for macOS and Linux, as well as 114.0.5735.110 for Windows.

Vulnerability CVE-2023-3079 in the JavaScript V8 engine received a “high” severity rating. It allows attackers to exploit a bug related to incorrect handling of data of various types through a specially crafted HTML page.

Google notes that the Chrome update will automatically roll out to users in the coming weeks. However, you can install the update manually right away by simply going to the Chrome menu > Help > About Google Chrome.
