The service shows you where the nearest bicycle parking with free transport is, how to get to the nearest bicycle parking near your destination and how to get to the final point. The function is based on a collaboration with the Ito World service, which finds free bicycles for travel.

Google said the new feature is needed due to the popularity of urban cycling. This is one of the ways to travel in a sustainable manner, taking into account a safe social distance. Google Maps has seen a 69% increase in cycling route requests since February 2020, hitting a record last month.

In the near future, the function will start working in 10 cities: Chicago, New York, San Francisco Bay Area, Washington, London, Mexico City, Montreal, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Taipei, and New Taipei. In the future, the developers plan to expand the geography of cities. It is not specified when the service will be available in Russia.
