GPD Win 3 Pocket Game Console with Tiger Lake Processor and Iris Xe Graphics Official
Last December, GPD launched a fundraiser to build a new Win 3 portable gaming computer powered by the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform. The device will be the successor to the GPD Win 2 handheld game console, which has become quite successful for a niche product. GPD Win 3 was officially released today.
GPD Win 3 received a relatively modest 5.5-inch display with 720p resolution even by modern smartphones’ standards. The screen is located on a sliding panel, which hides a QWERTY keyboard. A distinctive feature of the device is the presence of game controls located on the screen’s sides. These include two joysticks, four triggers, directional keys, and four action buttons.
The device boasts a full USB Type-A port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and built-in microphone. At the bottom, there is a USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt 4.0 support and rather powerful stereo speakers. It is worth noting the presence of two customizable buttons on the back of the controller handles.
GPD Win 3 is available with Intel Tiger Lake quad-core processors. The Core i5 is used in the lower models, operating at 2.4 GHz and capable of overclocking to 4.2 GHz. More powerful configurations will offer a Core i7 with a base frequency of 2.8 GHz, capable of reaching 4.8 GHz.
The device’s processor is paired with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD via PCIe 3.0. The integrated Intel Xe solution is responsible for graphics processing. Other features include support for Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and microSD memory cards. The manufacturer claims that the device can handle even demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077.
It is worth noting that GPD Win 3 can be used as a full-fledged computer, thanks to a proprietary docking station that adds HDMI 2.0, USB-C, Ethernet ports, and three USB-A connectors.
According to the manufacturer, the device will work from two to three hours in games on a single charge. With moderate use, the autonomy of GPD Win 3 can reach eight or even 11 hours. Charging is done using a 65W adapter. The starting price of the device is $ 799.
