HMD Global May Get Ahead Of Nokia’s Android 11 Update Schedule
Back in September last year, HMD Global shared plans to upgrade Nokia smartphones to Android 11. Today, Chief Technology Officer Juho Sarvikas said on Twitter that many branded devices will receive a fresh operating system earlier than expected.
Nokia 8.3 5G has already started receiving Android 11. It is expected that more devices will receive the new version of the operating system in the near future. Some time ago, research company Counterpoint Research noted that Nokia was quite quick to update branded smartphones to Android 9 and 10. However, the company is not yet at the forefront of updating its devices to Android 11. Official plans to update Nokia smartphones to Android 11 are displayed on the infographic below.
Since the Nokia 8.3 5G has already received the latest operating system, it should be expected that the update will be available for Nokia 2.2, 5.3, and 8.1 in the coming days and weeks. Following them, the rest of the devices on the list will be updated to Android 11. It can be assumed that being ahead of the schedule means that all these smartphones will receive fresh software by the end of the current quarter.
