Pricing for the 2024 Honda Civic Type R has been announced, with buyers paying $1,900 more for the new model year and receiving no additional benefits over last year’s model.
Annual price increases are not unusual in the world of new cars, although they are usually accompanied by changes such as new features or improved standard equipment. Sometimes the increase is the result of an automaker moving away from entry-level trim levels, but in this case it’s different. A Honda spokesperson explained to Motor1 that the higher price for the Civic Type R is due to “higher costs associated with production and logistics and will take effect from the 2024 model year.”

The starting MSRP is now $44,795. Last year, the Type R started at $42,895. The mandatory $1,095 destination charge remains unchanged. This brings the starting price to $45,890 for the 2024 model. For this money, buyers get a 315-horsepower Civic in Rallye Red or Crystal Black Pearl.
The standard price also includes 19-inch Matte Black wheels, a two-tone red and black interior, a suite of Honda Sensing driver assistance systems, a Bose stereo and other features.
