How to disable iPhone in one message. New “text bomb” found

Vulnerability is observed in all devices with iOS 13 and iPadOS 13. As of January 27, 70% of all iPhones and 57% of all iPad work on these OS versions.

The problem message consists of an emoji of the Italian flag and a symbol in the Sindhi language. It leads to a “crash” of the device if it appears in incoming messages. After the appearance in the alerts, the devices begin to continuously reboot.

Initially, it was noticed by users of the social news resource Reddit in the Telegram messenger and the social network Twitter. Apparently, this problem does not depend on the chosen method of communication.

As a temporary measure, it is proposed to turn off notifications on the device until the problem is fixed by Apple in the next update.

Such “text bombs” are not the first to be found on Apple software platforms. For example, in 2018, a “killer” Telugu message was discovered.
