Huawei delivers record revenue to Taiwanese electronics makers by stocking up on components due to sanctions

The second round of US sanctions against Huawei Technologies did not leave the company a lot of time to think, so it hastily began to stock up on components of all kinds, access to which may be limited from September 14. Taiwan’s export revenues ended up growing 8.3% year-over-year, reaching a record of $ 31.17 billion.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Finance has reported on the results of August at the beginning of this week. If the forecast mentioned an increase in export earnings in the last month of the calendar summer by 0.7-1.6%, then the actual value reached 8.3%. Revenue began to show positive dynamics in July, albeit not so convincingly (0.4%), while the four previous months were characterized by negative dynamics.

Of the total $ 31.17 billion, approximately $ 1.5 billion to $ 2 billion came from Huawei Technologies, which is frantically buying up components ahead of a final ban on supply. The influence of this factor will not be excluded by the end of September, as Taiwanese officials expect an increase in the island’s export earnings by 1.5–4.5%. In the future, maintaining the demand for the products of Taiwanese companies will ensure the continued self-isolation and the approaching season of holiday sales in Europe and the United States. In China, exports have been growing for the third straight month, demonstrating the economy’s ability to recover from a period of self-isolation.
