The company is still under sanctions
Huawei brought PC motherboards to MWC 2023 that stood out with one curious feature. As you can see in the photo below, all the microcircuits were covered with a film, and processors were not even installed on one of the boards.
Huawei had to tape all the chips on the motherboards that the company brought to MWC 2023
This was done so that it was impossible to identify all these chips. Huawei is known to be under US sanctions. Among other things, this means that, conditionally, no Western company can supply its products to the Chinese giant without the appropriate permits. Because of this, Huawei has to not only use Chinese alternatives, but also probably buy sanctioned chips on the gray market or resort to various complex supply schemes to get around the sanctions.
As a result, Huawei decided not to jeopardize itself and its partners and sealed all the chips with tape.
Recall that today we saw the first examples of photos taken on the as yet unannounced Huawei P60 Pro .
