Huawei has patented an unusual folding smartphone with a stylus

Rumor has it that Huawei has been developing a foldable smartphone with UTG glass and stylus support for some time now. Now, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) has published a patent from the company that sheds light on what the Huawei Mate X2 could be.

An interesting feature of the device is the narrow sub-screen located next to the main panel. It is referred to in the patent as an “add-on display”. It should display context menus and additional information from applications. This additional display will also house two front cameras. The back panel of the smartphone will house four lenses of the main module. Judging by the images, the panel of the additional screen will be raised above the surface of the device, and the stylus will be located in its lower part.

The main flexible screen seems to fold inward, like the Samsung Galaxy Fold. Note that the current flexible smartphones Huawei – Mate X and Mate Xs, the screen folds outward. On the one hand, due to this, the smartphone turns out to be thin and looks attractive, and on the other hand, the screen is much easier to scratch, because no matter how you put it, the screen will come into contact with the surface.

If the device described in the patent does go into production, Huawei is likely to be the first manufacturer to launch a foldable smartphone with stylus support. It is possible that a production device if it is released, will be able to boast a lot of interesting features, thanks to which Huawei will become the leader in the production of smartphones with flexible displays.
