Cars can be ordered on Amazon
Starting next year, depending on their location, users will be able to add the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and other cars to their cart on Amazon, along with regular items like home gadgets, books and watches. Hyundai Motor America CEO Randy Parker says the company has approximately 150 million reasons to try this new plan.
“They have about 150 million Amazon Prime customers, right?” — Parker said in an interview with InsideEVs at the Los Angeles Auto Show. He emphasized that millions of people visit the e-commerce megastore every month in America alone. “This is a huge audience to reach. So I think this is a great partnership that has the potential to revolutionize the industry.”
Under this collaboration, Hyundai customers will be able to use Amazon to search for Hyundai vehicles in their region, including gasoline models, hybrids and new electric vehicles such as the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 and Kona EV. They can order online, select their preferred financing or payment options, and then arrange for delivery from their local dealership.

Parker emphasized that this does not mean direct manufacturer-to-consumer sales, but rather connects the customer with the nearest Hyundai dealer based on zip code. This dealer component is an important link, creating a bridge between direct online sales and the dealer network on which Hyundai depends.
Parker says dealers are excited about the idea, and the plan is to conduct a pilot phase and then expand the program to all dealers. This isn’t the first time Hyundai has taken an unconventional approach to sales, having previously offered the Evolve+ program, which provides a monthly subscription to electric vehicles.
It’s important to note that Hyundai continues to actively develop its electric vehicle lineup, and according to Parker, the company has fully embraced the challenge of electrification in the auto industry.
